ITEM 103-2002-R0599 Authorization to Adjust the Scope of the Gaines Hall Room
6 Remodel to Include Renovation of four (4) Additional Teaching Labs; Montana State
University - Bozeman
THAT: Consistent with the provisions of MCA 18-2-102, and MCA 20-25-302, the
Board of Regents of Higher Education authorizes Montana State University - Bozeman to
adjust the scope of the Gaines Hall Room Remodel to include the renovation of four (4)
additional teaching laboratories, and also increases the project spending authority by an
additional $250,000. The revised, total estimated cost for this project is $650,000.
EXPLANATION:
- The Board of Regents previously authorized the renovation of Room 6, Gaines Hall,
for an instrument lab, for $400,000. An opportunity has now materialized that will allow
time and funds for the immediate renovation of four (4) additional teaching labs in
Gaines.
- This badly needed renovation work will include replacing lab
cabinetry that was reused from the 1922 chemistry building, obsolete lighting and
fixtures, new flooring and ceiling surfaces, and new teaching equipment.
- This authorization for an additional $250,000 will be funded
with bond proceeds from the Series 1996-D Indenture were provided for this purpose. This
project will result in no new programs.
