·        Sixteen Montana middle school students (7th through 9th grades) are participating in DCC’s “Paleontology” Gear-Up Program during the week of July 9-13, 2001.  Activities include field-based, archaeological/paleontological instruction at Makoshika State Park, an evening at the Theodore Roosevelt State Park in Medora, North Dakota, and a wide-range of other educational and recreational activities throughout the week.


·        The DCC Men’s Rodeo Team achieved fourth place at the National College Rodeo Finals in Casper, Wyoming in June.  In addition, Beau Franzen earned first place honors in Steer Wrestling, second in the Men’s All-around standings, and third place honors in Calf Roping.


·        The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) recently announced the Dawson Community College 2001 Buccaneer Fastpitch Softball Team has been honored with the NJCAA Academic Team of the Year award.  The Lady Buccaneers had a team Grade Point Average of 3.15 on a 4.00 scale.  Only two other NJCAA Division III Fastpitch Softball Teams in the nation received this award in 2001 (Johnstown, NY and Batavia, NY).
