the requirements of the Car D. Perkins Act of 1998 P.L. 105-332.
EXPLANATION: During the 1999 Montana Legislative Session, the
Montana Board of Regents was designated as the Eligible Agency for
administering the Carl D. Perkins Act of 1998 Vocational Education programs in
Montana. This act required the Superintendent of Public Instruction and the
Commissioner of Higher Education to work cooperatively on the vocational and
technical education State Plan; required the board of Regents to meet with
interested persons and entities regarding the implementation and evaluation of
the State Plan; and provide an effective date and termination date.
The Office of Commissioner of Higher
Education, as the entity responsible for the operational management of Perkins
funds for the eligible Agency, requests approval of the Montana State Plan and
the addendum to this plan by the Montana Board of Regents. The addendum to the
State Plan is a summary of the public comments and recommendations as well as
the responses to those comments and recommendations by the Office of
Commissioner of Higher Education, the Office of Public Instruction and the
Perkins Task Force.
