THAT:����������������������������������� Consistent
with the provisions of MCA 18-2-102, the Board of Regents of the Montana
University System authorizes The University of Montana to implement steps
necessary to install audio, video and data network backbone in Elrod, Duniway
and Craig Halls.� Capital reserves from
Auxiliary Services will fund this project, in the amount of $1,000,000.
EXPLANATION:����������������� This project will implement one of the goals
of the University�s Information Technology Plan by bringing the existing campus
network backbone into Elrod, Duniway and Craig Halls.� Installation of an audio, video and data network backbone will
provide students living in Elrod, Duniway and Craig Halls with immediate and
future access to University mainframe computing services, an upgraded telephone
network system, interactive communication and campus cable services, commercial
cable television, and other information technology available on the network in
the future.
A new fire suppression system will also be
installed at this time.
