ITEM 104-109-R0999 Budget Amendments -- Carl Perkins Federal Vocational Education Grant; School to Work Grant; DD Eisenhower Grant / Fiscal Year 2000 Office of the Commissioner of Higher Education

THAT: The Board of Regents authorizes the Office of the Commissioner of Higher Education to spend during Fiscal Year 2000 federal funds remaining as carryover from Fiscal Year 1999: $147,226 in Carl Perkins Federal Vocational Education Grants, $177,000 in the School to Work Grant, and $114,433 for the DD Eisenhower Grant.

EXPLANATION: The Budget Amendment Certifications required by 17-7-403 are attached.

Carl Perkins Federal Vocational Education Grant

Budget Amendment Certification

During the legislative session, the Office of the Commissioner of Higher Education estimated that we would have $5,492,313 in Carl Perkins Federal Vocational Education Funds available including carryover from FY99. The total available is $5,639,539. A budget amendment of $147,226 is required to fully spend the federal funds available.

Additional funds will be available for grants from the Office of the Commissioner of Higher Education or through the Office of Public Instruction.

These services are necessary in order to spend federal funds according to the goals and objectives of the Carl Perkins Federal Vocational Education Grant.

This budget amendment makes no ascertainable present or future significant commitment for increased general fund support.

These additional grant expenditures require no state match.

DD Eisenhower Federal Grant

Budget Amendment Certification

During the legislative session, the Office of the Commissioner of Higher Education estimated that we would have $264,449 available in federal DD Eisenhower Funds. The federal funds remaining from prior years and available for carryforward is $114,433. A budget amendment of $114,433 is required in order to fully spend the federal funds available.

During the legislative session, the Office of the Commissioner of Higher Education estimated that we would have $3.4 million available in federal School-To-Work Funds. There was approximately $177,000 of federal funds which remained unspent at the end of Fiscal Year 1999. These funds have been allocated by the School-To-Work System Team. A budget amendment of $177,000 is required in order to fully spend the federal funds available.
