ITEM 109-107-R1100:�������� Approval for the Director of
Workforce Development for the Office of Commissioner of Higher Education to
prepare a report consistent with the Perkins Task Force Final Report for
submission to the 2001 Legislature in compliance with Senate Bill 393 of the
1999 Legislature
THAT:����������������������������������� The Board of
Regents of Higher Education authorize the resolution for the Director of
workforce Development to prepare a report to the 2001 Legislature consistent
with the Perkins Task Force Final Report outlining decisions regarding the
development of the Perkins State Plan and recommendations to the Board of
Regents.
EXPLANATION:����������������� Senate Bill 393 of the 1999
Legislature designated the Board of Regents as the eligible agency for
administering the Carl D. Perkins Act of 1998�
vocational education programs in Montana; requiring the Superintendent
of Public Instruction and the Commissioner of Higher Education to work
cooperatively on the vocational and technical education State Plan; requiring
the Board of Regents to meet with interested persons and entities regarding the
implementation and evaluation of the State Plan; and providing an effective
date of 1 July, 1999 and a termination date of 30 June, 2001.� Senate Bill 393 also specified that a five
member committee representative of secondary, postsecondary and community based
organizations assist in the development of the State Plan and provide four
periodic reports and closure recommendations to the Board of Regents for
inclusion in the report to the 2001 Legislature
