ITEM 120-1005-R0903��������������� Authorization to Renovate Science Complex 342; The University of Montana-Missoula

 

THAT:�������������������������������������� Consistent with the provisions of MCA 18-2-102, the Board of Regents of the Montana University System authorizes The University of Montana to implement steps necessary to construct a clean room lab facility for research activities.� Research grants will fund this project at an estimated cost of $180,000.� We will use blanket authority from the 58th Legislative Session.

 

EXPLANATION:������������������������ An existing lab in the Science Complex will be renovated to house a Mass Spectrometer in a clean room lab.� This renovation will include new air handling equipment and fume hoods consistent with clean room environments.� A grant from the NIH, through The University of Montana Center of Environmental Health Sciences (CEHS), will fund this project.� The Department of Geology will also share in the research projects.
