ITEM 109-1002-R1100  Authorization to Expend $32,400 of Student Equipment Budget, Division of Biological Sciences; The University of Montana-Missoula

THAT: The Board of Regents authorizes The University of Montana-Missoula to expend $32,400 of Student Equipment Funds for the purchase of microscopes for use by students in biology and microbiology labs.

EXPLANATION: The Division of Biological Sciences relies heavily on classroom equipment which has, by and large, exceeded its useful lifetime. The Division is badly in need of replacing this aging and failing equipment in order to provide basic instruction. The purchase of these microscopes will allow the University to continue to offer the curriculum to the students using the latest technologies.
