ITEM 122-1010-R0104   Authorization to Name the Transfer Station Building the Marlice McMahon Transit Center; The University of Montana - Missoula


THAT: Consistent with Board of Regents' Policy 1004.1, Naming of Buildings, the Board of Regents of the Montana University System authorizes The University of Montana-Missoula to name the new south campus transfer station the "Marlice McMahon Transit Center."

EXPLANATION: The new facility will serve as an office complex for the Missoula/Ravalli Transportation Management Association, Mountain Line Bus Transfer site, and The University of Montana Park-Ride shuttle bus service area. The multi-modal complex will also include public restrooms, customer service storage, and provide off-hour parking for intramural and varsity athletic events.

Marlice McMahon was an individual who made an outstanding contribution to The University of Montana during her 24 years of service. She was a successful supervisor of 8-10 student employees each year. She also helped make the transition from a hand-sorted manual parking program to the computerized parking management systems now in use. Over the years many visiting alumni have sought her out. She had a positive effect on people's lives.
