ITEM 122-1501-R0304: Authorization to Replace Windows, Tuck-Point Brick Windowsills, and Repair/Refurbish Exterior Concrete Fenestrations and Roof Parapet Cap to the Petroleum Building; Montana Tech Of The University Of Montana

THAT: The Board of Regents of Higher Education, consistent with the provisions of MCA 18-2-102, authorizes Montana Tech of The University of Montana to replace the windows and make related repairs to the Petroleum Building at the estimated amount of $321,200.

EXPLANATION: The Petroleum Building is a three story, brick veneer building constructed in 1953. The Petroleum Building currently holds labs, classrooms and offices for the Petroleum Engineering Department and K-12 Technical Outreach. The existing windows are original construction consisting of metal frames, single strength glass with large areas of glass block above. Concrete mullions separate the windows. This proposed project would replace the existing energy deficient windows and glass block with insulated "infill" and energy efficient glass windows. The project will also include tuck-pointing all deteriorated brick windowsills and the repairing/refurbishing of all concrete fenestration (mullions) including the concrete parapet cap of the roof.

Plant funds will finance this project and will result in no new programs. This project requires the authorization of the Board of Regents and will use a portion of the General Spending Authority appropriated to The University of Montana, all campuses, by the 56th Legislative Session, HB 005 in the amount of $3,500,000.
