ITEM 102-1502-R0399 Approval of Proposal to Add an Option in Mechanical Engineering to the Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering; Montana Tech of The University of Montana

THAT: The Board of Regents of Higher Education authorizes Montana Tech of The University of Montana to add an option in Mechanical Engineering to the Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering at Montana Tech of the University of Montana.

EXPLANATION: A single Mechanical Engineering option will replace two previous options--Plant Engineering and Energy Engineering--within the Department of Engineering. The single option better reflects the mechanical portion of the engineering degree and the industry standard name for this type of curriculum. This change will result in no new courses, facilities, or faculty.
