THAT: Consistent with provisions of the laws of the United States and the State of Montana, the Board of Regents of the Montana University System authorizes Montana State University-Billings to accept the transfer of a Special Use Permit issued by the United States Forest Service (USFS) and a cabin, known as the Crippen Cabin, in the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness Area.
- MSU-Billings has identified several educational programs that would gain direct benefit from the use of such a facility. Among these are Environmental Studies, Biological and Physical Sciences and Outdoor Recreation.
- Any use of the cabin would require the extension of the Special Use Permit that is currently in effect.
- Upon transfer MSU-Billings would be responsible for permit payments and liability and fire insurance premiums, as well as for scheduling and maintaining the cabin.
