RE: Approval of Tentative Agreement with AFSCME Local 441, Livestock and Range Research Laboratory at Miles City

DATE: November 15-16, 2001

Attached is a summary of the tentative agreement with AFSCME Local 441. The summary only includes those sections of the agreement that were modified during this round of negotiations. The entire agreement is available on line at: https://mus.edu/hr/cba/collbarg.html. This tentative agreement covers 15 employees at the Montana State University-Bozeman Livestock and Range Research Laboratory at Miles City. The bargaining unit has already ratified the tentative agreement.

The major issue in these negotiations was the adoption of the Montana University System Achievement Project (MAP). The wage settlement is the same as was agreed upon with MPEA and the other bargaining units that adopted MAP; a 4% salary increase on November 1, 2001; .5% achievement pay on November 1, 2002; the greater of 3.75% or $700.00 on November 1, 2002; and .5% achievement pay on June 1, 2003. The tentative agreement also includes new language on prescription safety glasses referencing the guidelines in effect for the federal employees at the Miles City Livestock and Range Research Laboratory. Outdated retirement language was deleted and reference was made to the statutory contributions to group health insurance.

I recommend approval of the tentative agreement with AFSCME Local 441.
