This authority request is for an amount greater than $150,000, which requires the following additional information:

 

(a) Project Description:

This project will remove the two previous roofing applications and install a new roof covering over the entire dome. The dome will also undergo structural evaluation during the design process, and structural modifications will be included. The new roofing will be specified to carry a 20-year manufacturers warranty.

(b) Cost Estimate and Funding Sources:

Construction $ 1,700,000

Contingency     $ 200,000

             Total Estimate         $ 2,200,000

Funding Source: This project will be financed with funds from Auxiliary Operations Revenue (Renewal and Replacement Budget) in excess of debt service obligations.

(c) Programs served, enrollment data, projected enrollments:

The Fieldhouse is MSUs premier, multi-purpose, multi-use facility. The facility stages athletics practices and events for team sports including indoor track, rodeo, and both mens and womens basketball; a wide range of Physical Education classes; some intramural sports programs; Recreational use for faculty staff and students; and special events such as precinct voting, concerts, Special Olympics, BACCII, local high school commencement, and MSU commencement ceremonies. The facility also houses the main Athletics Department offices, many team sports coaches offices, and the Sports Facilities Management offices.

(d) Space Utilization Data:

Annual utilization factors will not be impacted by this major maintenance project.

(e) Projected use for available residual space:

(Not applicable to this project)

(f) Projected O&M Costs and proposed funding sources:

Current O&M costs are not expected to be significantly impacted by this roof replacement project; however, some minor, marginal decrease in annual maintenance costs may be realized due to eliminating the current problems with roof leaks.
