RE:  Ratification of Tentative Agreement with the Montana State University-Northern Federation of Teachers

DATE:  January 17-18, 2002

Attached is a summary of the tentative agreement with the Montana State University-Northern Federation of Teachers. The attached summary only includes the sections of the collective bargaining agreement that were modified during this round of negotiations. The entire collective bargaining agreement is available for review at https://www.mus.edu/hr/cba/collbarg.html

Salary was the only item addressed in these negotiations. The administration and faculty negotiating committee each identified three language changes they would like to pursue in a subsequent set of negotiations. Any language changes agreed upon in those negotiations will be presented to the Regents for approval prior to implementation.

The tentative agreement provides for an average of a 3.5% increase in faculty salaries effective November 1, 2001 on top of a $285.00 experience point increase that was implemented on August 1, 2001, and an average of a 3.5% increase on November 1, 2002 on top of the $285.00 experience point increase.

The bargaining unit has ratified the tentative agreement. I recommend approval of the tentative agreement.
