Approval of Proposal to Add a Master of Social Work Degree; The University of Montana-Missoula

 

THAT: The Board of Regents of Higher Education authorizes The University of Montana-Missoula to add a Master of Social Work degree.

 

EXPLANATION: The University of Montana's Department of Social Work currently offers the only accredited baccalaureate program in the State of Montana. The Department proposes to develop a two-year program of graduate study leading to a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree. The program will be designed to meet national accreditation standards issued by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) for MSW programs. Graduation from a CSWE- accredited program is a prerequisite for an individual to secure a social work license in the state of Montana.
